Where are all of the Country music fans – especially at Karaoke? I love most genres of music, including Rock, Hip hop/Rap, Reggae, Heavy Metal, Blues, Jazz, Classical,….and yes, COUNTRY. There is just something about listening to songs from Toby Keith, George Strait, Kenny Chesney, Reba McIntyre, Shania Twain, and MANY more that still bring sold-out crowds to music concerts around the United States.
However, go to a bar North of the Mason-Dixon line and the Country fans suddenly disappear-replaced by grumbling patrons complaining about Country songs. Now bring in Karaoke and have a very talented person sing a popular Country song and you will typically see the audience’s shoulders slump and restroom lines grow longer. The same talented singer sings a rock-n-roll song from the 80′s in round-2 and the crowd goes crazy with excitement!
I believe this is because the number of establishments dedicated to the Country genre has dwindled over the years due to lack of participation.
